Workshops

Bringing Mental Health Education Into Your Community

Knowledge is one of the most powerful tools we have. Understanding the emotional and psychological changes we experience as women - whether in motherhood, midlife, or everyday life - can be transformative. It can be the difference between suffering in silence and feeling seen, understood, and empowered to seek support.

Alongside her private practice, Martina works with community organisations, libraries, healthcare programmes, and support services to design and deliver workshops that bring accessible, evidence-informed mental health education directly to the women who need it most.

Each workshop is carefully crafted to meet the needs of its audience — whether that's new mothers navigating the fog of the postnatal period, women experiencing the upheaval of menopause, or communities simply looking to better understand the language of mental health.

Workshops

Are My Thoughts Normal?

Understanding your postnatal mind

New motherhood can bring a wave of thoughts and feelings that nobody warned you about. This workshop was created to offer new mums a compassionate, honest space to understand why and how thought patterns change in the postnatal period — and to reassure them that what they're experiencing is far more common than they might think. Honest, accessible, and gently delivered, this workshop helps mothers make sense of their inner world at one of the most overwhelming times of their lives.

Meet Matrescence

Discovering the woman you're becoming

Becoming a mother doesn't just change your life — it changes you, at the deepest level. Matrescence is the profound psychological, emotional, and identity transformation that comes with motherhood, yet most women have never heard the word. This workshop introduces mothers in the local community to the concept of matrescence, giving them language and understanding for an experience that has long gone unnamed. Created in partnership with South Dublin County Council Libraries, Clondalkin.

The Emotional and Psychological Impact of Menopause

Heads Up Programme

Menopause is one of the most significant transitions in a woman's life — and yet the emotional and psychological dimensions of this change are often overlooked. Created for the Heads Up Programme and delivered in partnership with Women's Collective Liffey Valley and Killinarden Community Centre for the South Dublin County Partnership. This workshop gives women the knowledge and language to understand what is happening within them, and why. Practical, validating, and grounded in real experience.

World Menopause Day Workshop

Marking the moment, starting the conversation

Delivered in celebration of World Menopause Day, this workshop was created in partnership with South Dublin County Council Libraries, Clondalkin, as an opportunity to open up honest conversation about menopause in the local community. Because awareness is where change begins.

Menopause, Emotional Wellbeing & Addiction Recovery

Understanding the intersection of menopause and recovery

Menopause is a profound life transition for any woman — but for women in or recovering from addiction, it presents a unique and often unacknowledged set of emotional and psychological challenges. Created in partnership with Jobstown Assisting Drug Dependency (JADD), this workshop gave service users the understanding and insight they deserved, exploring what menopause means for them and how to navigate it with greater self-awareness and compassion.

International Women's Day Circle

Giving to Gain - an exploration in community

In collaboration with ACE Enterprise Park, this women's circle brought the spirit of International Women's Day to life through connection, conversation, and reflection. Centred around the 2026 IWD theme of Giving To Gain, this session invited women to explore what it means to give — of ourselves, our time, our wisdom — and what we gain in return. A space to pause, reflect, and connect with the women around us.

Preparing for the Emotional Journey of Parenthood

Antenatal Workshop - Blue Skies Initiatives / Archways

Nothing can fully prepare you for parenthood - but understanding the emotional landscape that lies ahead can make all the difference. Created for expectant parents in the Clondalkin, Adamstown, and Balgaddy communities, this workshop invites antenatal parents to explore the emotional changes that parenthood brings, equipping them with insight, self-compassion, and a greater sense of readiness for the journey ahead.

Understanding Your Postnatal Mental Health

Postnatal Workshop - Blue Skies Initiatives / Archways

The postnatal period can bring an enormous range of emotions - and it isn't always easy to know what is typical, what is a sign you need more support, and how to ask for it. This workshop, created for postnatal service users in the Clondalkin, Adamstown, and Balgaddy communities, offers clear, compassionate education on the difference between baby blues, low mood, and postnatal depression - helping mothers understand their own journey and feel empowered to seek help when they need it.

Mental Health Literacy

Making sense of the language of mental health

We live in a world where mental health conversations are becoming more visible — but the language isn't always understood. What does it actually mean when someone says they're "triggered"? Is "OCD" a personality quirk or a real clinical condition? How have the ways we talk about anxiety and depression evolved over generations? This workshop, created in partnership with the local library service, demystifies modern mental health terminology, offering accessible, engaging education that helps communities better understand themselves and each other.
