My first podcast !
Many years ago when I was studying to be a psychotherapist and I knew that my niche was perinatal mental health I always had a goal of being on a podcast. It was an intention I set for myself and my practice. Fast forward some years later my goal has now become a reality.
On Friday 13th February (and not a bit of bad luck to be had !) I got to be a guest on Empathic Exchange Podcast. This podcast is hosted by Dan O’Mahoney. Dan is one of the warmest characters, he is a psychotherapist, a dad and a faculty member at PCI College Ireland. PCI is where I undertook my degree to become a psychotherapist so no better place to pop my podcast cherry.
Dan was so welcoming and keen to hear how my experience of becoming a parent shaped me and ultimately what I do today in the therapy room and community.
We talked about the becoming and the unravelling that comes silently with parenthood, the identity shifts, loneliness, fears, doubts, my mental health and societal conditioning that comes with being a parent.
It was a privilege to have the platform and opportunity to honestly share my story. This is a topic I am so passionate about- normalising the true unravelling and rebuilding that we never could imagine the first time around.
Thank You Dan for making the experience so seemless.
Thank you to anyone that listens and please, please, please, share with anyone who maybe in this space right now.
